Yuji Iwamoto Head Coach Interview
Q : Looking back on our first two games…
Iwamoto HC :
Although we were a little nervous in both, I believe earning four points was a good start toward our playoff advancement.
Our goalkeeper Tomita’s contribution to the team for defense was massive, but I believe our entire team put their bodies on the line, focused on the details of keeping their stick close to the puck and preventing good shots and passes.
The team never gave up till the end, thus we were able to persevere in both games. However, scoring still remains an issue for us.
Even though we come across chances for points, our shooting accuracy still needs improvement, so we will work to work on the accuracy of our shots and passes in preparation for our next game.
Q : A message to the fans for this season
Iwamoto HC :
As we face the new Stars Kobe, we aim to improve on our scoring and goal-directed shots, which were issues in our opening game.
Our play will showcase the fun of ice hockey, featuring short passes to drive into the enemy’s territory, quick attacks after stealing the puck from the opponent, and everyone putting their bodies on the line to defend, led by the goalkeeper.
Please cheer for the athletes on the ice.
Together with them, fans, and everyone at the venue, let’s make Shin-Yokohama a blast!
Shintaro Mutai DF
Q : What’s Different About the Yokohama Grits This Season?
Mutai DF :
Head Coach Iwamoto’s system and tactics, which have been in place since last season, have been adjusted to the entire team, and our “fast hockey” style has taken root.
Furthermore, the addition of fresh new players has increased the level of competition within the team, and I believe we’ve reached a higher level even within.
Q : Looking back on the opening two games
Mutai DF :
In the first game, we were able to play at our own pace.
However from the second game onwards, the Free Blades made solid adjustments, and it was a tough match, catching up to a one-point deficit.
Earning a win is the only value, so that’s what we’ll focus on to win both games.
Q : A message to the fans for this season
Mutai DF :
Thank you for your continued enthusiastic support.
Your powerful cheers give us energy.
This season’s tournament is sponsored by our company, Ebara Foods.
We will win giving everything we have, and playing in a style that will make everyone’s hearts leap.

Q : A comment on joining the Yokohama Grits
Taneichi FW :
As a dual-career player, I’ve learned a lot from both work and sports, and it’s so much fun, like living two lives at the same time.
Q : Looking back on the first professional season in the opening game
Taneichi FW :
I was moved by the enthusiastic support from the fans at home.
I’m so grateful to be able to compete alongside them.
I wasn’t nervous, but the tense atmosphere at a professional level was something I’ve never experienced before, and it was so much fun.
Q : A message to the fans for this season
Taneichi FW :
This week is Ebara Foods Day, and I’ll play with gratitude towards them in my heart.
The “Puchitto Nabe” series we’ll be giving away as a gift to attendees is a product I loved when I was a college student, and I still find it delicious to this day!
I hope everybody would take this opportunity to start using Ebara Foods products.
We’ll be showing our “golden taste and golden play (Ebara Foods catchphrase)” again this match, so please give us your enthusiastic support!
