Ikkei Chicken in Yokohama Station
But don’t be fooled; once you’re hooked, there’s no going back!

Ikkei Yokohama West Exit: Lines start even before opening.
As it’s an izakaya, we made our way to the restaurant on the 6th floor in time for the 5 PM start, but we were surprised to see so many people in line even before the opening!
Even though we were at the end of the line, BearFriend and I managed to find a seat on a four-seater table.
Bone-in Chicken! A perfect course with beer
The menu is plain and simple ; “chicken.”
But wait, there are two options: young meat or fully grown adults. Even though it’s your well accustomed kind of bird meat, it’s served bone-in, and you can choose from crispy deep-fried or a tender, juicy chicken.
In fact, there are no other main dishes besides these two, showing the restaurant’s commitment to this one and only selection.
When ordering the bone-in chicken main course, an English menu is also available, making it a tourist-friendly option.

We ordered rice balls and rice bowls as add-ons, and eating them with the oil seeping out from the freshly grilled chicken was an indescribably luxurious.
As you can see, the chicken was crispy on the outside and chewy inside!
The cabbage that came with it offset the oiliness, but I still preferred dipping it in rice.
I’ve come across a few online accounts of people who, like Jiro-style ramen, have become addicted to it, and I can relate to that feeling all too well.
I don’t normally drink alcohol, but this menu item made me want to order a beer.
Looking around, I saw customers of all ages and genders snoring away, sipping on bone-in meat and blowing away the day’s fatigue.
The baby chicken wasn’t deep-fried, but it felt oilier than the parent chicken.
It was tender and delicious when I dug in!

There were groups of four or five people inside, as well as seats for single diners.
I imagine that chicken-obsessed people are sure to come here secretly to enjoy the food…
I recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy simple, high-quality chicken!
Yokohama Grits fan encountered in Ikkei
We spotted a passionate Yokohama Grits fan!
We had a lively conversation for a while.
I digress, but one of the staff members is a fan of Yokohama Grits!
(Especially after meeting Alex Rauter actually coming to this restaurant)
We talked about the team and sport until we were seated.
Rauter unintentionally made a Grits fan by visiting this izakaya.
Thus another passionate Yokohama Grits fan was born!
