Thank You Ono! – The reason I’m a Yokohama Grits Fan
I have a deep dark secret that many don’t know.
Before the Yokohama Grits existed, I was a Nikko Ice Bucks fan.
I was planning on buy tickets for the Ice Bucks online, when I saw the Yokohama Grits on schedule.
I thought it was a scrimmage or a beer league team.
I panicked and got real excited could Yokohama really have a hockey team.
Once I did I did a happy dance. No more four to six hour train rides.
A team right here in YOKOHAMA!
It is hard to switch teams, but when I saw Kohei Ono on the roster, I told my self we can both leave the Ice Bucks together.
I was at the first game and wanted nothing but good things for this team.
I joke that I am the first fan but many great friends along the way.
I saw Ono play in Nikko and He had an amazing Japan Cup one year.
The Ono and Koco factors
Ono had a lot of factors to root for.
We both went from the Ice Bucks to The Grits.
I played goalie in high school before a military injury.
He went to Waseda University, where my father-in-law went and most of my Japanese friends went to.
Thank you Ono, and see you soon!
The Yokohama Grits have seen some lows but the team has my heart and giving me some of my greatest memories.
Thank you Ono for all you have done for the Grits and Japanese hockey.
Thanks for giving this old timer something to care about with all of his heart.
Hope to see you with Grits Gang next season.
