Hello to everyone of “THE GULUGERS”!
Thank you so much for your enthusiastic support for the GRITS this week!
Last weekend’s two consecutive home games against the Stars Kobe were some nail-biting, sitting-on-the-edge-of-your-seat action.
This weekend is our first away game of the season!
A heated battle awaits in Sapporo, in the north.
The games will be broadcasted live on the Hokkaido Red Eagles’ YouTube Channel.
Yokohama Grits win 2 games straight!
On the first day (Sep. 20th), we had a sweeping victory of 6-1!
The stadium was filled with excitement, thanks to the players’ amazing skills!
The following day (Sep. 21st) turned out to be a fierce battle no one expected!
The game went into overtime with a tie, and we were victorious, scoring a penalty shot shootout (PSS).
It was an intense match until the very end, but #22 Tyler scored a goal marking our victory!
Both days were incredibly exciting.
There’s no doubt that the fans gave the players strength with their cheering!
We’ve also received comments from #19 Rookie Taneichi and #21 Sugimoto immediately after the match, so be sure to check them out!
Here’s a quick recap!
In the match on Sunday the 21st, both teams received penalties at 6:23 in the second period, but did you notice that the number of players didn’t change after that?
This was due to the penalty offset rule being applied.
If both teams are assessed equal penalty time, the penalized player will be in the penalty box, but the team will not be shorthanded with any players missing.
Instead, the team may immediately replace the player that got the penalty.
This means that the number of players on each team will remain the same, and the game will continue as usual, with 5-on-5 on the ice.
High-five event for Fanclub members
After the match on September 21st, we held a high-five event with players exclusively for our fan club members!
With the game blowing everyone’s mind, many fans participated to have an opportunity to interact directly with each player.
The players also expressed their gratitude for the enthusiastic support, exchanging high-fives with smiles on their faces.
