Shinjuku Face:Thank You for all the memories
This video is a heartfelt tribute by creator Dave Koco to Shinjuku Face, a legendary 600-capacity event hall in Tokyo that officially closed its doors on September 30, 2026.
Key takeaways from the video
About Shinjuku Face:
Shinjuku Face (新宿FACE) was a 600-capacity event hall on the seventh floor of the Humax Pavilion Shinjuku Kabukicho complex at 1-20-1 Kabukicho, Tokyo.
The space had been the live house Liquidroom from 1994 until that venue moved to Ebisu in 2004; it was then renovated for combat sports at the suggestion of Taichi Sakaiya and reopened as Shinjuku Face on July 29, 2005, with a women’s martial-arts show as its first event.
For the next 21 years it was a mainstay for professional wrestling, boxing, and mixed martial arts—used regularly by promotions such as DDT and Oz Academy, and often by New Japan, All Japan, and Noah for smaller cards—earning a reputation as pro wrestling’s “second holy land” after Korakuen Hall.
Concerts and stage shows were also held there.
A “Second Holy Land”:
Known as the second most important venue for professional wrestling after Korakuen Hall, the venue hosted major promotions including DDT, Oz Academy, New Japan, All Japan, Noah, & PPP Tokyo for over 20 years.

Perfect Intimacy: Koco explains that the venue’s small size was its greatest strength, making every event feel personal and accessible for fans.
More Than Just Wrestling: The Humax Pavilion building also housed an iconic arcade (Game Panic), bowling, and various restaurants, serving as a social hub for the local community.
The Changing City: The creator expresses sadness over the loss of unique, historic locations in Tokyo, which are increasingly being replaced by generic, modern developments.
Future Hopes and Dreams: While the current building is closed due to a lease expiration, there is hope that Shinjuku Face may reopen in a new location within a year. Koco shares his personal ambition to open his own “wrestle house” aka Pro Wrestling Arena using this venue as an inspiration.
