横浜グリッツのラウター選手とロックウェル選手から、9月の北海道レッドイーグルス戦についてそれぞれコメントをいただきました。
アレックス・ラウター選手からのメッセージ
新しい都市やアリーナを訪れるたびに、日本のホッケー界の成長を感じるため、まだ眠っている才能や可能性を見つけていくのはいつも楽しいです。
先週末は、レッドイーグルスとの2試合のため札幌へ遠征しました。
普段とは違う環境で過ごし、一緒に思い出を作っていくことでチームの結束力が高まり、選手同士の絆が深まりました。
すすきのにある地元のお寿司屋さんで美味しいディナーをチームの皆でいただいたり、ホテルで皆とで過ごすのは、何歳になってもいつもわくわくします。
しかし残念ながら、結果は望んだものではありませんでした。
努力が足りなかったわけではなく、1試合目は体系的な問題で少し動きが鈍かった…。
イーグルスは良いチームで、スピードとフィジカルを最大限に駆使して戦いました。
2試合目はまずまずのスタートを切りましたが、試合の大半は2-2のままで時間だけが過ぎていく流れに。
私がシュートブロックに失敗したところを相手に突かれて、ゴール前のリバウンドを決められてしまいました。
最後まで諦めることなく戦いましたが、最終的には負けとなりました。
それでも、全体としては楽しい週末でしたし、これから改善すべき点がたくさん見つかりました。

タイラー・ロックウェル選手からのメッセージ
今週末の札幌での試合は、アジアリーグ屈指の強豪チームと対戦する貴重な経験を積む良い機会でした。
試合を通して、私たちが今後どれだけ強くなる必要があるのか、そして今後どのような点を改善すべきなのかを認識することができました。
レッドイーグルス戦の2試合目では、最終的には惜しくも敗れてしまいましたが、3ピリオド終了間近のゴールが重要な意味を持ちました。
試合会場に大勢のGRITSファンの方々が駆けつけてくださったことに、心から感謝申し上げます！本当にありがとうございました！
アリーナがGRITSへの声援で満たされる光景以上に最高なものはありません！

Alex Rauter comment (VS Hokkaido Red Eagles)
It’s always fun traveling to new cities and new arenas to showcase Japan’s ever growing hockey talent.
This past weekend we flew up to Sapporo for a pair of games against the Red Eagles and it was a great way for our team to bond and make new memories doing things we wouldn’t normally do.
We had an awesome team dinner at a local Sushi spot in Suskino and then getting to be in the hotel with the entire team is always fun, no matter what age you are.
Unfortunately however, we did not get the results we wanted.
Not for a lack of effort, but systemically we were a bit slow in game 1.
The Eagles are a good team and they used their speed and physicality to their advantage.
We came out better in the second game and the score was tied 2-2 for the majority of the game until I missed a shot block and they managed to get a net front deflection for the go ahead goal.
We fought hard till the end but it just wasn’t good enough.
Overall though it was a fun weekend and it gives us plenty to work on.

Tyler Rockwell comment (VS Hokkaido Red Eagles)
This weekend in Sapporo was a great chance for us to gain experience playing against one of the top teams in the Asia League.
The games really showed us how strong we need to be and the areas we can keep improving.
It’s frustrating because in the second game we played well enough to earn some points against the Red Eagles, but a late goal in the 3rd period made the difference.
A huge thank you to all the GRITS fans who came out in big numbers!
We appreciate you so much!!Seeing so much of the arena filled with your support meant the world to us!
