バックショット・ルーレットは、Mike Klubnikaが開発した2023年のインディーホラーゲーム。
ロシアンルーレットという基本的なアイデアを土台にしながら、より戦略に富んだ、緊張感があって、そして意外なほど楽しい体験へと昇華させています。
従来の拳銃の代わりに使うのはポンプアクション式のショットガン。
「ディーラー」と呼ばれる謎のAI対戦相手と向かい合い、実弾と空砲が混在した状態でゲームが始まります。
毎ターン、自分が引き金を引くか、相手に向けるかを選択しなければなりません。
そこから、本当の楽しさが始まります。
覚えるのは簡単、でも読むのは難しい
ゲームの基本コンセプトはとてもシンプル。
銃の中に何が入っているかを読んで、判断して、正しい選択だったことを祈る——それだけです。
ただし、ゲームにはアイテムが登場し、一気に面白さが増します。
手錠・虫眼鏡・のこぎりなど、有利に働くアイテムを使うことで、より情報に基づいた、あるいはよりリスクの高い判断が可能になります。

バックショット・ルーレットの魅力の一つは、長居しすぎないことです。
一回のセッションはだいたい15〜20分程度。
「がっつりゲームする時間はないけど何か楽しいことがしたい」というときにぴったりです。
何時間もぶっ続けでプレイするタイプのゲームではありません。
さっとプレイして楽しんで、また後で戻ってくる—そういう付き合い方ができる作品です。
操作に慣れるまで数ターンかかるかもしれませんが、仕組みを理解してしまえばとにかく気軽に遊べます。
万人向けではないかも
バックショット・ルーレットは、かなりダークなゲームです。
ホラーな雰囲気・テーマの重さ・ブラックユーモアのセンスは、全員に刺さるものではありません。
年齢の低いプレイヤーにはおすすめできませんし、ダークなユーモアとホラーが好きな人向けの作品です。
でもそういうのが好きな人なら、楽しめる要素がたっぷり詰まっています。

Buckshot Roulette: Russian Roulette With a Shotgun and a Lot More Strategy
Sometimes you don’t need a 50-hour adventure or a massive open world to have a great time with a video game. Sometimes, all you need is a shotgun, a mysterious opponent, and some really bad decisions.
Buckshot Roulette is a 2023 indie tabletop horror game developed by Mike Klubnika that takes the basic idea of Russian roulette and turns it into something much more strategic, tense, and surprisingly fun.
Instead of the traditional revolver, you’re sitting across from a mysterious AI opponent known as The Dealer, with a pump-action shotgun loaded with a mixture of live shells and blanks. Each turn, you have to decide whether to take the risk yourself or point the shotgun at your opponent.
And that’s where the fun begins.
Simple to Learn, Difficult to Predict
The basic concept of Buckshot Roulette is very simple. Figure out what shells are in the shotgun, make your choice, and hope you’ve made the right decision.
But the game adds items that make things much more interesting.
Things like handcuffs, a magnifying glass, and a handsaw can give you an advantage and allow you to make more informed or dangerous decisions.
The result is a game where luck matters, but strategy matters too.
You might know that a blank shell is in the chamber, but what do you do with that information?
Do you take the chance and fire at yourself? Do you shoot The Dealer? Do you use an item first?
Every decision can change the entire round.
Short, Dark and Really Fun
One of the best things about Buckshot Roulette is that it doesn’t overstay its welcome. A typical session can take around 15–20 minutes, making it a great game to pick up when you want something fun without committing to a huge gaming session.
It is not necessarily a game you’re going to sit down and play for hours at a time. Instead, it’s the kind of game you can play, have a great time with, and then come back to later.
The controls can take a few turns to get used to, but once you understand how everything works, the game is incredibly easy to jump into.
Definitely Not for Everyone
I should point out that Buckshot Roulette is very dark. The horror atmosphere, subject matter, and dark sense of humor definitely aren’t going to appeal to everyone.
This is not a game I’d recommend for younger players, and it’s definitely aimed at people who enjoy darker humor and horror.
If that’s your kind of thing, though, there is a lot to enjoy here.
Final Thoughts
Buckshot Roulette is a simple game, but that’s part of what makes it so good. It takes the concept of Russian roulette and adds enough strategy, items, risk and unpredictability to make every round exciting.
It’s tense, funny in a very dark way, and incredibly easy to pick up.
If you’re looking for a really fun short game that you can play through without spending your entire weekend on it, Buckshot Roulette is absolutely worth checking out.
And if you have a dark sense of humor, you might love it.
