よく「いつから横浜ベイスターズのファンになったの？」と聞かれます。
確かに、スタジアムに大声で叫んでいる外国人がいたら不思議に思う方も多いかもしれません。

昔は長い間ジャイアンツのファンだったので、自分のチームを鞍替えするのはとても難しいことでした。東京に住んでいた頃はジャイアンツのシーズンチケットを持っているほどのファンっぷリ。

しかし後に横浜に引っ越して住むうちに、東京とはまた違った魅力に気づき心からこのエリアを愛するようになりました。
横浜に目を向けるようになったのは大好きなホッケーのチームである「横浜グリッツ」が最も初めのきっかけでした。

ジャイアンツよりもベイスターズの試合をもっと見るようになり、TWITCHでのゲーム実況中にアメリカのメジャーリーグ「タイガース」の野球選手、ベン・バーランダー選手が僕のチャンネルをレイドしてくれました。

たちまちチャットに本人だけではなく何百人もの野球ファンでいっぱいになり、大賑わいを見せているときでした。

バーランダー選手が僕のチャンネルで何を話しているか聞いてくれ、僕は好きな野球チームの鞍替えジレンマを彼や彼のファンへ聞いてみました。

野球を愛する者同士として、チームを変えることの長所・短所をそれこそ細部まで挙げていき、最終的にはメジャーリーガーの彼の承諾を経て、公式に（？）ベイスターズのファンになったという過去を持ちます。

試合に行くたびに一緒に写真を撮ってくれと言ってくれるフレンドリーな方が多いです！

今年は日本一に輝いた彼らですが、これまでも、そしてこれからもファンであり続けます。

Me being a fan of the Baystars, always comes up with a question:
“When did you become a Baystars fan?”

Now this is a very difficult question, because for a long time I was a Tokyo Giants fan.
There were even times where I had season tickets for the Giants.

But then I moved to Yokohama, and I fell in love with the Yokohama Grits (a hockey team). While I’m here, I would go watch more and more sports in the city. I would go watch Baystars games more than I would go Giants games.

About 5 years ago, I was talking about Baystars on twitch with the chat; how I like the Baystar fans better, how affordable the tickets were compared to the Giants.

Just then, a major league baseball player from the Detroit Tigers, Ben Verlander raided us, and there was a ton of baseball fans in the chat.
He asked me what we were talking about, and I explained my little situation of my baseball team of choice.

Is it wrong for me to switch teams, I asked.
But according to Ben Verlander who stayed the whole stream, we put out pros and cons, and I thought if he, a MLB player says I can switch teams, I’ll do it.

So that’s how I became a Baystars fan.
I’m so proud of them to win the championship, and I’ll be sure to go to more games next season.
