アレックス・ラウター選手の熱き軌跡ーニュージャージーのリンクから横浜の光へ
アレックス・ラウター選手の物語は、不屈の精神・適応力・そしてホッケーへの純粋な情熱が詰まったものです。
ニュージャージー州チャタム生まれ・育ちの身長188cmのフォワードは、地元のユースリンクからはるばる日本のアジアリーグアイスホッケー（ALIH）横浜グリッツの主力選手へと長い道のりを歩んできました。
大陸を越えてプロの夢を追い続けるその姿は、まさにホッケー人生の縮図です。
ニュージャージーでの原点
ラウター選手のホッケー人生はチャタムの地から始まりました。
USA Hockey全国選手権（準優勝経験あり）に出場する強豪ユースプログラム「ノースジャージー・アバランチ」でスキルを磨き、チョート・ローズマリー・ホールというプレップスクールでもプレー。その後ジュニアホッケーへとステップアップしました。
ジュニア時代はUSHLの強豪オマハ・ランサーズ、ヤングスタウン・ファントムズでプレーし、NAHLのウェナッチー・ワイルドで締めくくり。
確かな得点力とプレーオフ経験を積み重ねながら、攻撃センスを磨き次のステージへの準備を整えました。
コーネル大学での輝き
ラウター選手はNCAA Division IのECAC Hockeyに所属するコーネル大学へ進学し、2014年から2018年までプレーしました。
シニアイヤーの2017〜18シーズンにはミッチ・ヴァンダーラーンとともに共同キャプテンを務め、32試合で11ゴール9アシスト20ポイントとチームトップクラスの成績を残しました。
PK（ペナルティキル）とパワープレーの両方で活躍し、攻守両面での貢献でビッグレッドを牽引しました。
北米プロキャリア（ECHL）
大学卒業後、北米AA級リーグのECHLでプロデビュー。
4シーズンにわたって複数のチームで計150試合近くをプレーし、その万能性と得点力を証明しました。
- アトランタ/グウィネット・グラディエーターズ — プロデビューとプレーオフ経験
- ウィーリング・ネイラーズ — 2018〜19シーズンに44試合で10ゴール24アシストの好成績

この時期に異なるシステムへの適応力、出場時間を勝ち取るための競争、そして安定した「頼れる両方向フォワード」としての地位を確立していきました。
欧州への挑戦
2021年、ラウター選手はついに海外へ。
スウェーデンのHockeyAllsvenskanでKristianstas IKに加入し、スロバキアのTipos ExtraligaではHKスピスカー・ノヴァー・ヴェスでプレー。
デンマークのSønderjyskEでも短期間プレーするなど、異なるホッケー文化とスタイルを吸収しながらアジアへの大きなステップに向けて準備を進めていきました。
横浜グリッツという居場所
2022年夏、ラウター選手はアジアリーグアイスホッケーの横浜グリッツと契約を締結。
瞬く間にファンの心を掴み、チームの柱へと成長していきました。
背番号9番を纏う攻撃的なフォワードは、得点力はもちろん、リーダーシップとポジティブなエネルギーをロッカールームにもたらしています。
横浜グリッツでのレギュラーシーズン成績ハイライト
- 2022〜23シーズン：40試合出場。チームトップクラスの貢献でデビューシーズンを飾る
- 2023〜24シーズン：プレーメイカーとしてスコアラーとして引き続き活躍
- 2024〜25・2025〜26シーズン：複数回の契約延長でグリッツ在籍4年目へ。攻撃の核として、また経験豊富なベテランとして存在感を発揮し続けている
タフなリーグでグリッツを牽引しながら、日本の文化も積極的に受け入れているラウター選手。
日本語習得を個人目標に掲げ、ファンへのメッセージでは「ホームゲームを毎回満員にしよう」と熱く呼びかけています。
地元への恩返し——ジャージー・プロ・リーグ
リンクの外でも、ラウターは地元に大きな貢献をしています。
新型コロナウイルスのパンデミック中、彼はニュージャージー州のプロ・大学選手向け夏季アイスホッケーリーグ「ジャージー・プロ・リーグ（JPL）」を共同設立し、コミッショナーとして運営を担っています。2022年にはXHockeyProductsのキャプテンとしてリーグ初代チャンピオンの座を獲得しました。
この取り組みは選手たちに貴重なプレー機会を提供し、地元ホッケーコミュニティの活性化に大きく貢献しています。
表彰とレガシー
2020年、ラウター選手はニュージャージー高校アイスホッケー殿堂入りを果たしました。

From the Rinks of New Jersey to the Lights of Yokohama: The Inspiring Journey of Alex Rauter
Alex Rauter’s story is one of perseverance, adaptability, and passion for the game of hockey.
Born and raised in Chatham, New Jersey, this 6’2″ forward has traveled a long road from local youth rinks to becoming a key player for the Yokohama Grits in Japan’s Asia League Ice Hockey (ALIH).
His journey embodies the grind of chasing a professional dream across continents.
Early Roots in New Jersey
Rauter’s hockey journey began in his hometown of Chatham.
He developed his skills with the North Jersey Avalanche, a powerhouse youth program that competed at the USA Hockey National Championships (including a runner-up finish).
He also suited up for Choate Rosemary Hall prep school before making the jump to junior hockey.
In the juniors, he played for top-tier teams including the Omaha Lancers and Youngstown Phantoms (USHL) and finished with the Wenatchee Wild (NAHL), where he posted solid production and playoff experience.
These years honed his offensive instincts and prepared him for the next level.
College Stardom at Cornell University
Alex Rauter committed to Cornell University (NCAA Division I, ECAC Hockey), where he played from 2014 to 2018.
As a senior in 2017-18, he served as co-captain alongside Mitch Vanderlaan.
He ranked among the team’s top scorers with 11 goals and 9 assists for 20 points in 32 games, while excelling on the penalty kill and power play.
His leadership and two-way game made him a standout for the Big Red.
Professional Career in North America (ECHL)
After college, Rauter turned pro in the ECHL, North America’s premier AA-level league.
He played nearly 150 games across multiple teams over four seasons, showcasing his versatility and scoring touch:

Indy Fuel (Chicago Blackhawks affiliate) — One of his best stretches, including 11 goals and 9 assists in 27 games during 2019-20 and solid production in 2020-21.
These years taught him the realities of pro hockey — adapting to different systems, fighting for ice time, and building consistency as a reliable two-way forward.
International Move: Europe
In 2021, Rauter took his game overseas.
He played in Sweden’s HockeyAllsvenskan with Kristianstads IK, Slovakia’s Tipos Extraliga with HK Spisska Nova Ves, and briefly in Denmark with SønderjyskE.
These short but valuable stints gave him experience in different hockey cultures and playing styles before his big move to Asia.
Finding a Home with the Yokohama Grits
summer of 2022, Rauter signed with the Yokohama Grits in Japan’s Asia League Ice Hockey.
He quickly became a fan favorite and a cornerstone of the team.
An offensive-minded forward with a knack for scoring, he wears #9 and brings leadership, skill, and a positive attitude to the locker room.

Rauter has helped the Grits compete in a tough league while embracing Japanese culture — he’s even set a personal goal of learning the language.
His message to fans emphasizes building passionate crowds and making every home game a sellout.
Giving Back: Jersey Pro League
Off the ice, Rauter has made a major impact back home.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, he co-founded (and serves as Commissioner of) the Jersey Pro League (JPL), New Jersey’s premier summer ice hockey league for pro and collegiate players.
In 2022, as captain of XHockeyProducts, he led his team to victory in the league’s first-ever championship.
This initiative provided crucial playing opportunities and helped keep the local hockey community thriving.
Recognition and Legacy
In 2020, Rauter was inducted into the New Jersey High School Ice Hockey Hall of Fame — a fitting honor for someone who started as a “rink rat” in Chatham and never stopped chasing excellence.
