Devouring a Mountain of Meat at Mallory Pork Steak
I actually managed to finish an entire hunk of steak at Mallory Pork Steak — and honestly, I felt like I could’ve eaten another one.
Normally when we eat out, BearFriend takes me out for ramen adventures.
But this day was different. Why? Because it was my birthday!
She’d clearly noticed how much I couldn’t stop talking about the incredible amount of meat we packed away at Ikkei last time we had a protein heavy dinner, and how much I loved it — so this time she took me somewhere I could eat a genuinely massive steak.
That place is about an 8-minute walk from the west exit of Yokohama Station.
It’s counter-seating only, but every single dish that comes out is jaw-dropping, mostly because the menu doesn’t offer anything except oversized steaks.
I went with a hunk of meat called the “McKinley” — a full 700 grams.
It came with mashed potatoes and spinach sautéed in butter on the side, and both were fantastic.
BearFriend ordered the option that comes with french fries, and hers was also an absurdly large cut of meat.
One Pork Steak, Endless Ways to Change Up the Flavor
There was steak sauce sitting right in front of me, so I poured some into the little dish provided, dunked a cut piece of meat in it, and took a bite.
I figured a piece of meat that big would be dry — but it was unbelievably juicy and practically melted in my mouth.
Cutting into it, the meat wasn’t tough at all, but it still had a satisfying bite to it, which made the whole experience feel wonderfully indulgent.

Besides the classic steak sauce, the restaurant also has its own house mustard, yuzu pepper, and pepper-wasabi condiments you can use to switch up the flavor — definitely worth trying!
And of course, there’s also the good old salt, pepper, and soy sauce.
I tried everything except the wasabi, and every single one was delicious.
A Lineup of Wine and Drinks to Cut Through the Richness
No matter how delicious the meat was, and no matter how many times I switched up the flavor, I noticed the oiliness would eventually start lingering in my mouth.
Mallory Pork Steak has clearly thought this through, though — every drink on the menu is designed to be refreshing.
Along with wine (red or white) that pairs perfectly with the meat, there’s also highball, black oolong tea, jasmine tea, and lemon squash, all ready to reset your palate.
I went with the lemon squash, and what struck me most wasn’t the lemon flavor so much as how strong the carbonation was. (BearFriend went with the jasmine tea.)
You can’t make a reservation here, and you can’t even get through on the phone number listed online — but somehow the turnover is fast, so even if you’re waiting outside, you’ll be seated in no time.

There’s Even a Big-Eating Challenge!
They also run a big-eating challenge: finish a 5-kilogram slab of meat within 30 minutes, and you win a ¥50,000 prize!
Fail, though, and you’re on the hook for a penalty fee (I think it was around ¥13,000?).
Mallory Pork Steak: Overall Rating
8.5 out of 10 — an easy repeat visit, no question.
If you’re someone who’s been craving meat that’s both delicious and tender enough to really sink your teeth into, I’d highly recommend giving this restaurant a try.
You’ll leave completely, satisfyingly full.
