今回は僕デイブ・ココがプロレスファンとしての体験について16の質問に答えるインタビュー動画です。
業界への思い・ファンとしての日常・忘れられない瞬間など、横浜在住の長年プロレス愛好家として率直に語っています。
プロレスとの出会い
ニュージャージーで育った僕は、子どもの頃からプロレスに夢中になっていました。
そして日本のプロレス—いわゆるプロレスに本格的にハマったきっかけは、グレート・ムタとの出会いです。
あの独特のキャラクターと試合スタイルに完全にやられてしまいました。
日本のプロレスの魅力
日本のプロレスが持つ独特の緊張感と強度は、他のどこにもないものだと感じています。
新日本・NOAH・ドラゴンゲート・DDT・全日本……それぞれのプロモーションが全く異なるスタイルを持っています。
テクニカルでストロングな試合から、アスレチックなコメディまで、バリエーションの豊かさが日本のプロレスの魅力の一つです。
現在メインで追いかけているのは全日本プロレスですが、複数の団体を行き来するマルチ派のファンであることは変わりません。
日本でのプロレスファン生活
現在は横浜在住のリタイア組ということもあって、腰と肩の調子が良い時は週3〜4大会のペースで観戦に行っています。
チケットは基本的に当日券派。小さくてアットホームな雰囲気の会場が好きで、特に横浜ラジアントホールのような距離感の近い会場はたまりません。
選手と観客の距離が近いからこそ生まれる空気感が最高なんです。
忘れられない名場面
生観戦の中で特に印象に残っているのは、レッスルキングダムでの中邑真輔vsAJスタイルズ。
今でも一番好きな試合として挙げられる名勝負です。
そして感情的に深く刺さったのが、獣神サンダー・ライガーとグレート・ムタの引退試合です。
プロレスファンとして、ああいう瞬間に立ち会えたことは一生の宝物です。
グッズはあげちゃう「悪のサンタ」
プロレスのグッズやTシャツを集めるのは好きなんですが……気づいたら周りのファンや子どもたちにどんどん配ってしまっています（笑）。
いつの間にかそのクセが定着して、仲間内では「悪のサンタ」なんて呼ばれるようになりました。
