Yokohama Baystars, Nippon Series 2026

The Yokohama Baystars Season has come to an end.
Thank you for all the memories.

The Crazy Boys of Kanagawa almost did it again. 2 Years ago they beat the three biggest teams in a row (Giants, Tigers, & Hawks) to be the Japan Champions.

BayStars 2024 Championship should be a Hollywood Movie

This year they swept The Giants and Tigers.
The Hawks swept us in 4 close games.

Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks win back-to-back Japan Series titles, re-establish dynasty with 8th championship since 2014.

I went to all the away games and watch parties and was lucky enough to see Game 2 Live Thanks to my buddy in the US Air Force Philip getting me tickets.

Learn more about Philip here

We went crazy when Yoshitomo “Yoshi” Tsutsugo (筒香 嘉智) hit a huge home run to take the lead.
He is one of my favorites because he played for both my favorite teams the Tampa Bay Rays in MLB and Yokohama BayStars in NPB.
Once in a lifetime both my teams made the finals and both lost.

Japanese Baseball give and take

We felt the highest of the highs with the home run and the lowest of the lows when fan favorite Sean Reynolds gave up one of his few runs this season.

12,015 people showed up at Yokohama Stadium for the free public viewing of Nippon Series Game 4.
10,231 people showed up for the Game 3 public viewing there.
I was there for both games.

In May, SoftBank acquired star catcher Yuudai Yamamoto from DeNA for Shuto Ogata & Tomoya Inoue in a rare blockbuster trade.

Five months later, Yamamoto delivered a game-tying triple against his former team in Japan Series Game 4, with Inoue missing the diving catch, helping the Hawks complete the sweep.

The Hawks went undefeated in the playoffs.
This is the second time a team has gone undefeated in the playoff era.
The only other time was… the Hawks in 2020

I put my name in the lottery for season tickets.
I pray to the baseball gods and Tomoko Namba (南場智子) to get season tickets next year.
My goal is to go to every game next season to root and cover the Yokohama BayStars!
